DJ Sharpnel is a pivotal anchor in the Japanese hardcore (J-CORE) scene. He needs no introduction, but i will give a short description.
Starting the sharpnelsound record label in 1998, his advancements in music inspired countless artists worldwide, especially the otaku crowd. many of his physical releases are highly coveted items which are collected and sought after on an international level. this is an interview i conducted with him initially for a fanzine project in 2023, however, it was never released. this is the first time this conversation has been published, so i hope you enjoy it. ty!

- I am a big fan of many music artists, so I can't describe all in limited space but The Speed Freak is always my best teacher and master.
I am always influenced by his sound, originality and big hospitality for scenes and music lovers.

- There were many reason of stop srpc series. One of the big reason is just you are thinking.
I wanted to focus on the hardtek sound with Europe and Japan artists is another big reason.

- Specially Speeddisco vol.2 helps me always at the start of party! and Blue noah always makes me high at end of shows.

- Yes, I hope so. I want to play IRL with an avatar appearance in the bangface stage.

- I love ika-fri. Ika-Fri (squid fries) are a snack made by spreading squid flat and deep frying it, and they taste very good, but the smell of the sea spreads throughout the room and is disliked by my mates! (tifu note - he specifically used the word mates)
How did you come up with your name, "DJ Sharpnel"?

- I wanted to put my name on something energised, cyber and mechanical. In my childhood, I love transformer animations. I was big inspired by "SHRAPNEL" then I changed it a bit, "SHARPNEL"
